1:45 Sliders for Blending Practice
I came across the idea online the other day when looking for ways to help students who are struggling with blending sounds into words. Several students who are usually reluctant to try sounding out words on their own told me that they loved this activity. I have used it in our small reading groups this week.

One student told me today that he wished he could "play this" all the time at home because it was so fun (we did it with partners and he was mine). I told him I thought he could make one at home, to which he responded, "Yeah, I probably can because I'm so good at making things." I told him I would put up a video to show parents how to make it.
So, here you go! Sliders! (But not the yummy kind.) -

00:33 Thanksgiving Party!
Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord all the Earth!
Uploaded Nov 20, 2020 by Kara Duckworth
What a beautiful week of Fall weather we've had this week. Thursday was the perfect day to celebrate Thanksgiving with our class.
Kimberly and Eric Johnson were our wonderful parent hosts for the day. This dynamic duo planned everything from games (Duck, Duck, Turkey! and Turkey Hunt) to songs (of both the worshipful and the far-out silly variety) to crafts to a tasty lunch feast! Kimberly and Eric, we are so thankful for you!
And I am thankful for all of you families and students, too! How blessed I am to be your teacher.
Here are some important announcements about what's coming up:
*No school next week! Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break!
*While you are with your families next week, would you please take a picture of your family gathered around your Thanksgiving table? Email them to me. I'd like to use these for our study of the artist Norman Rockwell. (See the painting at this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_from_Want)
*Remember to work on your page for our class book. This is due on or before December 4. Email me a picture of your child to include on the Author Page.
*Mrs. Glenda and I will be working on a short Christmas program with the students in lieu of the big Christmas Program the school has done in the past. Mrs. Gibbons will be filming our class and sending out a video that will include something from each grade level at Oak Grove.
* Pray that we will be able to continue to meet in person for the two-and-a-half weeks between Thanksgiving Break and Christmas Break.
*Our class Christmas Party will be our last day of school before Christmas Break - December 15.
*December 16 is the end of the second 9-weeks of school.
With Grateful Heart,
Mrs. Duckworth -
