hello parents I'm mr. Moser I'll be your 5th and 6th grade history teacher this year both red and blue day and I'm here with our teacher's guide Creator and developer we're going to be walking the ins-and-outs of the interactive notebook and healthy use it alongside the teacher's guide and the curriculum will try to address five major kind of frequently asked questions and clear this is what your teacher guide will look like we'll just explain a little bit about how to find information first thing on point out is the unit numbers these unit numbers do not correspond to the textbook these units correspond to the 15 units that will be covered during this year of History you can see hear unit one also refer going to the first unit that is covered Week 1 and your days 1 through 4 correspond to the information that is on the syllabus if you want overview of what you'll be doing that week if you want details about the lessons and the assignments that are too decomposed to refer to the corresponding information below for example say 2 is less than 4 read notebook template but if you want details on how to accomplish that you need to look below same thing day 3 culture culture below that is where the internet notebook comes in you'll notice there are many little highlighted portions on this page and those are indicating 4 for each given days lesson what interactive notebook pages will be used so for instance day 2 is going to be covering less than 4 in the textbook and it's going to make you so the interactive notebook page number five is what that means if you look in further detail for page for Day 2 lesson for down here it will go into a little further details about the specific assignments but again it will indicate to you exactly where each and every assignment is supposed to be in the interactive notebook for instance they to do this will lead read lesson 4 and the textbook and as their reading or after they finish reading they will be taking notes on this particular template which will cover in a moment but those notes will go on interactive notebook page number 5 you look back down here again in the further detail there will be another assignment after reading lesson 4 discuss the following big picture question with students then have them record their response on interactive notebook page number for the both of those page numbers are used during this one lesson and most lessons are designed to take up two pages in there an interactive notebook and input page and an output page now fortunately we don't have an actual what the interactive notebook will look like for most of you but we really only need a couple blank pages to explain how this works so on a typical day as we said that I lesson will you use a left hand side in a right hand side is there an interactive notebook for instance on day-to-day to it is making use of interactive notebook page 5 and over the course of a lesson the input side for instance will be the reading and the note taking that will go on the right hand side and then later in the lesson after they finish their note taking and reading they will complete the output side part of the lesson which will go on the left hand side of the page so it's very simple once you get into the swing of it every lesson will generally follow the same sort of template explain the template next all right regarding the use of templates so we'll use our an example here week one day two students will be reading again lesson 4 from the textbook and I'll be taking notes on the new Flash new template now all of these templates that are referenced most of them that you'll see throughout curriculum can be found you put to the back of your teacher's guide there is an appendix pull up templates today's temperature the new new template so you simply flipped to the back find a template that you need for that day's work and for each of these templates there's only one copy so you will need to make your own copies of these templates for reuse because most Tempest will be used more than once throughout the course of the school year but you don't have to make copies if you would just rather copy that template down into the interactive notebook by hand you're more than welcome to do that as well pretty simple anytime you see it template that is being used during during a week at home those templates unless there unless specified in your in your weekly pacing unless specified it somewhere else they're going to be in the back in the appendix you've heard Mr Moser mention space like I mentioned earlier unit do not course text book but lessons do correspond with your textbook if you look in your from Adam to us text book on lesson for you will see it titled first people lessons do correspond with the textbook units do not i&b is shorthand for interactive notebook these Pages correspond specifically with your students notebook I just like to tell you a little bit of the why behind the teacher guide and see interactive notebook this year the first reason is because where is gushing happened so fast at home and in the classroom and as the notebook travels back and forth between both of those places if you found the organization of how its setup mr. moser do what he's supposed to do if you're not following numbers according to for your notebook miserable just going to have to take time out of instruction time to have kids renumber and problem-solve to fix pages but if you guys keep up with organization at home following interactive notebook pages of the input and output size get your money's worth out of this so that's kind of the first reason do that the other reason behind the teacher gun specifically because world history the history of the world in one here is a lot that's a lot of information is given and by song Interactive format and allows yours to see the content at least three times by the end of the lesson from your cell for mr. Moser a video that Expo research that they do but then they're going to go ahead and see it again when they take notes and then they're going to go ahead and see it again when they do an activity that shows they have an understanding of the information that they receive so you think there is a huge scope that you'll be covering this year if you some more time to dig a little deeper into actually has meaning and value behind the things that are going to be well hopefully some of what we had to say his help clear up any potential confusion that you may have wanted to add as well that they will they will be a link along with this video to an interactive notebook so what's that mean along with this video you can access that and it has all of the information that we've just given you but that will be available as well as some additional summaries of what we've already said between all of those things you have all the resources
