Technology Class Update - Week of 4/29 - 5/3

As we start winding down the semester, we are beginning a new module that will cover the Google Suite of products (Docs, Sheets, and Slides). Throughout this module we will compare this platform to the Microsoft platform, and students will learn how to transfer the skills that they have learned throughout the semester to the Google versions of these products. This week we learned about Google Docs, and students completed an assignment designed to help them learn to use the many different features available to them.

Technology Class Update - Week of 4/15 - 4/19

PowerPoint Assignment #2 is due on Wednesday, April 24.  

This week, students began a more in-depth PowerPoint project that will build their skills with a variety of features, including adding transitions, animations, and adding various elements to presentations. Next week we will begin the PowerPoint Capstone, which will be presented to the other students in class.

Technology Class Update - Week of 4/08 - 4/12

This week, students started their first project for Microsoft PowerPoint. They are actively applying the skills that we are learning by creating their own presentation about their top ten ranking in their chosen area. Next week, we will discuss how to add transitions and animations to presentations, and students will continue to apply the skills that we are learning. 

Students should complete PowerPoint Project #1 by Monday, April 15.

Technology Class Update - Week of 4/1 - 4/5

This week, students began our module on Microsoft PowerPoint. We covered a brief overview of the features of PowerPoint that we will be discussing in more detail in the coming weeks. Since this is a new topic and we are just starting to learn about it, there is no homework to be completed over the weekend.

Technology Class Update - Week of 3/25 - 3/29

This week, students have been applying their knowledge of Excel in a real-world context by creating a budget in Excel. This project should be completed by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, April 2. When we return to class on Wednesday, April 3, we will begin studying Microsoft PowerPoint and learning how to create presentations.

Technology Class Update - Week of 3/18 - 3/22

This week we completed our final week of learning new information about Microsoft Excel. Students learned how to create different kinds of charts, as well as how to use some of the data tools available in Excel. Next week we will complete our module on Excel with a capstone project that will test students' knowledge of the material.

Technology Class Update - Week of 2/26 - 3/1

This week we began learning about Microsoft Excel and spent most of the week on a broad overview of the different features and formatting options available on this platform. This coming week we will continue to study Excel and will specifically focus on learning how to use formulas and create charts. For the remainder of the week, students should continue to practice their typing.

Technology Class Update - Week of 2/19 - 2/23

This week we finished our module on Microsoft Word with a final project to test students’ knowledge of the functions we have learned thus far. We will begin our Microsoft Excel module this coming week and will learn all about the different features of this platform. For the remainder of the week, students should continue to practice their typing.

Technology Class Update: Week of 2/12 - 2/16

This week we learned how to use templates, make changes to an entire document, and format research papers in Microsoft Word. Next week, we will begin our final project for Microsoft Word, which will comprehensively test students on skills learned. Much of the project will be completed in class, but if any portions remain incomplete after class period on Wednesday, students should complete them at home.

Technology Class Update: Week of 2/5 - 2/9

REMINDER: Word Project #3 is due this Friday at 11:59 pm. If you have already completed the project, your assignment for the remainder of the week is to continue to practice typing.  

This week we learned how to insert and edit objects in Microsoft Word. We also learned how to create and edit tables. Next week we will cover using templates in Microsoft Word, formatting entire documents, and formatting research papers.  

Our class is now set up on iGrade, and everyone should have received an invitation to join the class page. If you did not receive an invitation or are having trouble getting your account set up, please let me know and I will be happy to help in any way that I can.

Class Update - 1/31

This week we covered more detailed ways to edit text and use different formatting options, including changing text color and style, using superscripts and subscripts, adjusting line spacing. Students also learned how to create outlines, and how to use an outline to make a table of contents. Students should continue to practice their typing online for the rest of the week, and we will continue to learn about the many features of Microsoft Word next week.

Technology Class Calendar - February

This is the Technology class schedule for the month of February. Please note, many of the assignments listed will be completed during the class period. However, I have set the due dates for Fridays so that students have more time to complete their work if needed.
