Thank you so much for my birthday goodies. I got chocolates and pretzels and a scarf and chocolates and gift cards and a t-shirt and chocolates and flowers and so much more. Did I mention I got chocolates? What a great day!!

4Jan2024 Happy New Year!
Thank you all for the wonderful goodies, chocolates, cards and gifts. And my wonderful tree. That was above and beyond the call of duty. So special.
Well, we're off to a new year and a new semester. We've had a nice break, now it's down to business. Let's go.

Thank you all for the best wishes, gifts, chocolate, cards and your children. It is truly a privilege to work with you raising up/educating these kids. I didn't have much time with my red kids, but love them as well. What a great bunch! I hope red day had a great time at Main Event. Have a great summer.

As for my blue guys, we will meet at school tomorrow at the regular time 8am and carpool over to Main Event at 10:15. Drivers, please be at the pick-up parking lot at 10. Pick-up will be at Main Event at 2:45-3. No books, no backpacks, and Main Event discourages water bottles. Just bring your gameface!!
If I don't get to personally talk to you tomorrow, have a great summer. I will truly miss my kids that are moving on. And, to my kids coming back, see you next August.

Please make sure your student has a working syllabus of his own in class. We have lots of stuff coming up and some changes on the syllabus. Both April and May would be good. Thanks!

You'all have made my birthday fabulous. Literally, a shower of gifts, chocolate, food, well-wishes, laughter (dyed hair, a wig and nerdy t-shirts galore-I'm proud to be a nerd!), balloons, cards, and love. And I love you too. Thank you so much!!!

Puzzle for this week  1001 = A.N.

Two of the things we talk about in class quite frequently, besides science, is being attentive and respectful. I assume you want us to talk about these things, especially in a classroom setting. What I tell the kids is "you give me my time and you will have your time. If you don't give me my time, I will take your time." What that translates to, if a student is talking, etc. during my teaching/explaining time, then they will have to have a 15min. quiet/alone time during lunch. Each infraction adds 15min.

Please note: the kids have plenty of social time during the day. It is not a hardship for them to be attentive and respectful during instruction. The other teachers have this issue also. Some seem to have a hard time understanding what it means to not talk while I'm talking. I have instructed them that it's my time to talk, and they are not to talk unless they are talking to me about our subject and some literally will turn to their neighbor and talk. (They are welcome, more than welcome, to raise their hand if they have something they want to share with the class.)

We are starting a new semester and I need your help on this issue. It's not getting any better and I'm afraid it's sending the wrong message to our students what is required of them. Please speak to them about being courteous whenever anyone else is speaking, not just their teachers. Maybe this is how your house operates but know they will be getting into trouble at school. (I once had a student who was very sarcastic with me. Come to find out that she and her dad interacted like that all the time but it sure didn't work with me. :/ )

So, I will let you know if your child gets a time out. This is a great group of kids, but this has become an issue that needs attention. Feedback welcome. Blessings on you as you train up your children.

Hi all!

For Spirit week next week, Tuesday is Pajama Day and Thursday is Throwback Day. And...

Oak Grove will be hosting an Open House on Tuesday November 1st for those who might be interested in enrolling for the 2023-2024 year. Time is 10am-12pm. PreK-8th grade. Please share with your friends. High school Open House will be in January.
Current families that are having a new student enroll will also need to complete the admissions process. This may be new to some families.

Hi all and welcome, welcome!! We had a great week, getting organized and finding our way around. I have to learn at least 20 new names and faces. Looks like a great bunch. Just a refresher; if you need/have an immediate answer or comment, you can text me; my cell is 865.617.9765. Email [email protected] or call for non-immediate issues.
