Happy Weekend!

Next week we will be moving onto Geometry. Chapter 5 is an extra enrichment part of the course, so the test is optional, but it's up to your discretion to give or not to give the test! There is also a Ch 5 review in the book that can be used for extra practice if you wish.

Geometry is back in BOOK 2 so please pack your student's bags accordingly! Geometry Vocab and Angle Review (175-9) and Polygons (180-2) are the two lessons we will be working on. Whatever is not finished in class, please finish at home.

Here are some extra games that are related to our content next week, just to have another option for at home work:

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, have a great weekend!

Hello!

We will be going over the Coordinate Grid (pg 175-7) and Number Patterns on the Coordinate Grid (pg 180-2) next week. Whatever work is not finished in class please finish at home.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Hello!

Happy Friday to all. Next week we will be needing information from the 1st math book, so please send them with your kids. The topics we will cover will be Line Graphs (pg 186-89) and Average/Mean (pg 193-95).

If you haven't done so already, please complete Units 7 & 8 math tests at home. They should be located in the math mammoth books, and answers will be in the purple answer book.

We're coming up on the end of the year, which I know gets chaotic, so please do not hesitate to reach out! Have a great weekend, and enjoy the weather!

Hello!

Happy weekend - let me start by saying that Monday is a half day due to the Solar Eclipse. Please prepare to pick up students at 12:10. Monday students will also have a sub for the day.

Classes will be covering Dividing Fractions: The Shortcut pg 163-65 on Monday, and reviewing chapters 7 and 8 the rest of the week. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you, have a good weekend!

Hello!

In regards to next week, we will be out Monday for Easter Monday. Please have students finish what we started in class Wednesday (fractions as division pg 151-54), as I also sent home an OPTIONAL review handout that can be done for their work on Tuesday.

Next week we will be covering Dividing Fractions: Sharing Divisions (pg 155-160) and whatever is not finished in class can be done at home.

Thanks so much,

Happy Easter!
Ms. L

Happy Weekend!

Next week we will be continuing with fractions, specifically multiplying mixed numbers (pg 145 - 47) and dividing fractions (pg 151 - 54). Since this upcoming Friday is Good Friday, we will not have class nor will we have class the following Monday for Easter Monday. Any left over problems in the book can be done outside of the classroom, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me.

Have a great weekend!

Welcome back!

I'm excited to be back in the classroom with you all next week. We will continue to work in the mammoth book, specifically Multiplying Fractions by Fractions 1 & 2 and Fraction Multiplication and Area. These are on pages 131-141 in the book. We will have no additional work, so kids can do whatever we do not cover in class at home.

Enjoy the last of your break and I will see you all soon!

Happy Friday!

Hello and happy Spring Break! We had a great week, and now I know we are all looking forward to a week off! Seeing as it's a break, there's no work next week.

Again, I want to thank you all for welcoming me into the Oak Grove family! May the Lord bless your breaks and give you peace.

Happy Sunday!

I wanted to reach out and clarify about my previous email - I will only be teaching Mr. B's RED DAY 5th grade class until the end of the year. I will, however, be posting for both red and blue days. Since I will be posting for both, please expect to receive emails from me each week! Again, I will only be teaching red day students, but I look forward to getting to know all the students as I am able nonetheless!

Thanks for your understanding,

River Lewkowicz

Hello!

Happy weekend! I'm Ms. L and will be taking over for Mr. B's 5th grade class until the end of this year. We will be working on simplifying and multiplying fractions next week; there will be no additional work, just finish leftover problems in the lessons!

Happy Friday!

This past week students practiced adding mixed numbers, to include fixing improper fractions and combining them with the existing whole number. In addition, students practiced subtracting mixed numbers, to include borrowing from the whole number.

In class, students were given a format to assist them with the concept of borrowing from the whole number and converting it into a fraction. Many of you may have noticed this in your student's workbooks. This is simply a support to help them keep their fraction components organized. Feel free to continue using this, if needed. Next week, we will attempt to do these steps in our heads in an effort to simplify the process. Why? Well, next week we are going to have an additional step in our addition/subtraction process. We are going to have to rewrite our fractions with like-denominators. This will be our main focus.

We will continue to split problems between co-op and home days. If you need additional problems, feel free to utilize the worksheet link listed in an earlier post.

Have a great weekend!

Hello Everyone!

We will continue to divide the lesson exercises between co-op and home days for next week. Please do not begin the lessons at home.

We will be adding and subtracting mixed numbers. Good news! (All of the problems have like denominators.) This will give students time to practice borrowing from whole numbers to make fractional parts before we have to concern ourselves with changing the fractions.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

We will be covering the metric system next week. We will be working through exercises in two lessons, so there should be ample problems to share between class and home. Like last week, to keep it simple, students can work on any remaining problems that were not completed at the co-op.

Have a great weekend!
