Recap of 03-25 to 03-27

On Monday we covered section 10.2.  Today we were scheduled to cover 10.3 which introduces logarithms.  As this is a brand new concept which, please read the section in the book thoroughly and carefully.  Additionally, I scoured the web for some videos.  Though I could not find any that I thought were great, I did come up with the following which I do think will be helpful so please watch these as needed.

I will also post an updated March calendar.

Weekly Recap 03/04 to 03/08

This week we finished Chapter 9 and Anna has the chapter test scheduled for today (Friday).  She seems well prepared but knows she can contact me if she has any questions about the test.  I hope Anna is able to finish the test on schedule and that you all then enjoy your break next week!

Weekly Recap 02/12 to 02/16

This week we covered 8.8, 9.1, and 9.2.  I sent home the Chapter 8 Test on Monday and it will be due this Monday (02/19) as well as homework 8.8 and 9.1.

Weekly Recap 01/29 to 02/02

This week we covered Sections 8.5 and 8.6.  We also started 8.7 and went over transformations, reflections, and dilations (for graphing).

Due Monday: HW 8.6

I will be posting our February calendar over the weekend.

Week Recap 01/24/24

What a delight it was to work with Anna on Wednesday!  Anna has a strong math foundation and I am greatly looking forward to continuing this Alg. II course with her.

On Wednesday, we covered section 8.4 and did a brief intro into section 8.5.  I will be posting an updated calendar to accommodate the missed school days.

For Monday, HW 8.5 will be due.

Week Recap - 11/27 and 11/29

On Monday, we started Chapter 7 entitled Rational Expressions and Functions.  Anna is very strong in factoring, which made the sections we covered this week much easier.  In 7.1, we defined a rational expression and then learned how to multiply and divide rational expressions.

On Wednesday, we covered 7.2 and 7.3.  In 7.2, we learned how to add and subtract rational expressions.  We first practiced with rational expressions that had the same denominator, and then learned how to find the least common denominator (LCD) to add/subtract those that have different denominators.

In 7.3, we learned how to simplify complex rational expressions.  We learned to do this using 2 different methods.  In the first method, we add/subtract the rational expression in the numerator by first finding the LCD of each term. (just like we did in 7.2). Then, we repeat the process to add/subtract the rational expression in the denominator.  Thirdly, we invert the denominator and multiply by the numerator. Lastly, we simplify.  In the second method, we find the LCD for ALL rational expressions in both numerator and denominator.  Then, we multiply numerator and denominator by the LCD.  The result is a rational expression that is then simplified as needed.

An updated homework calendar for December was uploaded to the class page on Monday, and the solutions for this week's homework was uploaded on Sunday.  The following is due on Monday, December 4:
