Friday recap

Friday recap! Today we started with a subtraction color by number review page. After students were done they were able to do a maze. Then we moved into reading review. I taped words from our lessons around the classroom and students were able to walk around with clipboards writing the words down and then creating a sentence using that word. Also since we had been comparing Knoxville to London this week in lightning literature, we made a map with our favorite place in Knoxville. It was great to see all the different places that they named. This week, we were focusing on constellations so after looking through some constellations students were able to create their own and tell a story to match. We finished out the day looking at a slideshow about Andy Warhol, our artist this month. That was our day!

Friday recap

Friday recap! We started off the day with students picking a book from our library. Then after they read their book they did a retell the story sheet with parts of the story. We talked about what each of these things mean and they presented them in class. Students then built a safari animal (students that did this Monday picked a different animal to do). We ended with a math sheet focusing on before and after numbers. That was our day!

Friday recap! We started the morning with elephant and piggy! After morning meeting we did some verbal science quizzes to recap what we’ve been learning about for space. We then made comets using foil and streamers and did several tests. After that we did a reading passage with a comprehension piece. As students finished they grabbed books from our library to read. For math review we played a game called catch the dinosaur, using addition and subtraction with multiple step problems. We ended the day watching a little bit of an African safari. That was our day!

Hi parents, here is our Friday recap! We started off with doing readings centers with different activities. They rotated between doing silly sentences, simple sentence building blocks and sight word splat with me. We also did a Tower of Hanoi game from Vietnam. After recess we ended the day with a game of Yahtzee! This was fun because so many of them have never played. That was our day!

Friday recap

Friday recap! Today we started with the book There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover. We then did a shape coloring sheet with a clover. I had two Easter math pages for them to work on that covered skip counting and multi step word problems. We then did a sticker activity sheet for Easter. While working on that I hid eggs all around the classroom with math problems on them. Students took their clipboards and hunted around the room writing down all the problems they could find and solve. We ended with playing bible bingo!

Reminder: we have no school next week on Friday.

Friday recap

Friday recap! Today we started with a Dr. Seuss coloring sheet and a pot of gold maze. We did a reading passage with comprehension questions from the text. We also did a break the code soft G sheet. Math review today was a count by fives Dr. Seuss sheet. We ended the day with game stations (zap adding, dominos, face Rubiks cube, spot it, uno and blink). Have a great spring break!

Friday recap

Friday recap! Today we had stem bins on their desks to start the morning. Since this week they learned about punctuation in a letter, we wrote a letter to God. It was sweet to see the different things they were thankful for. Science review today consisted of a coded space fact sheet that they needed a cipher wheel for. Math review was all about shapes. They used different shapes to create their own scenes. Our Asia study today involved making paper lanterns! That was our day!

Friday recap

Friday recap! Today we did a math review page. We also did pick a problem game with teams and buzzers. We did a reading comprehension sheet on Asia and I had volunteers read sentences. We did a soft/ hard C and G tic tac toe game with partners. I had some helpers test markers and toss the old ones as a little spring cleaning! That was our day!

Friday recap

Hi parents! Today we started the day off with a Valentine word search. We then made cards with pop out hearts because we ran out of time to do so earlier this week. We did a phonics coloring match sheet as well as a contraction matching sheet. Math review today was working with our clocks and talking about the time of day we do certain things. We ended the day with some planet orbiting, which was their favorite part! Before this post I attached two pictures that the class wanted to show you. That was our day!

Friday recap

Hi parents, here is our Friday recap! We started with a Valentine’s Day word search. We then read Owen by Kevin Henkes to follow the author in lightning literature this week. We listened to an alliteration video and then gave examples with everyone’s names and the alliteration phrases that can go with it. They did an ISpy Spain page as well as an addition coloring page. Then for the main event we did teams with buzzers and my pick a problem box. They LOVED this! We ended up doing it much longer than I had planned because they kept wanting more problems. I told them I will work on adding more problems to my box so that we can continue to have new questions. That was our day! Let me know if you have any questions.

Friday recap

Friday recap! Today they started with stem building activities on their desk and some foam shape building. I also showed them a video of the groundhog saying if it was going to be a longer winter or spring coming early. They were all very excited to hear that spring should be coming early! We made heart tissue sun catchers for Valentine’s Day. We did a space color by number sheet. They played a bossy R board game with partners, and once they finished with that they quizzed each other on math flashcards. We did an ISpy Switzerland sheet and they ended the day with making Swiss paper dolls.

Friday recap! We started off with stem bins on their desks and a space maze. Since we are studying Europe and we focused on Italy this week, we did a Leaning Tower of Pisa drawing and I showed them some photos. They took this project and ran! Several made it their own, which was great to see. Math review today involved a skip counting color by code sheet and using whiteboards to make fact families with manipulatives and writing out the equations to go along with them. We watched the read aloud “Officer Buckle and Gloria” and talked about the rules like in our lightning literature book “Make Way for Ducklings” this week. That was our day!
