We had a good Friday!
 
This week in  "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey", two of the servants of the enemy, Deceit and Falsehood, tried to impede the Pilgrim's journey. Great-Heart fought them off and the travelers made in to the Place of Deliverance where they learned what the King's Son had done for them!
 
In science, we read a story and learned what different things plants need to grow! It has been fun learning about plants!
 
For our Eric Carle book today we read "A House for Hermit Crab"! We got to review the months of the year, learn about more ocean animals, and we then got to design our own hermit crab shell! 
 
Can't believe we only have a few more Fridays left!

We had a great Friday!
 
This week in  "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey", we found ourselves back at Interpreter's house and this time we got to meet his wife, Lady Wisdom! We got to tour their home and learn some important lessons on the way!
 
For science, we reviewed the life cycle of a plant, then talked about the different parts of a plant and how each part plays an important part in the plant's life!
 
For our Eric Carle book today we read "The Grouchy Ladybug"! We colored our own ladybugs and talked about some of the things that makes us grouchy! We also got to talk about some other feelings on our handwriting page!

We are reading the sequel to "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey"! Christiana's little group have met Good Will and faced individual challenges on the way to meet Interpreter. 
 
In science, we are learning about plants and today we talked about what defined a plant and how plants grow. We then made a plant life cycle wheel and talked about where all our plants at home are at on the wheel.
 
For our Eric Carle book today we read "The Mixed-Up Chameleon"! Such a fun book that teaches how to just be yourself and we talked about how God created us all uniquely! The kiddos did great coloring their chameleons and thinking about different things they like about themselves!

We had a great Friday!
 
We are the sequel to "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey"! Christiana and her siblings have started on their journey and have already met some new people as well as face some challenges!
 
In science for this month, we will be focused on plants and we got to combine science with our author of the month, Eric Carle! We read "The Tiny Seed" and talked about the life cycle of a flower! They then created their own interpretation of what that tiny seed turned into!
 
We had special visitors today that came to speak to our class! We were joined by Mrs. Duckworth's class and together we learned about a country called Turkey! It was fun hearing first hand what life is like there and how we can be praying for the people there as many of them do not know about Jesus!

We started the sequel to "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey" which starts out with all of Christian's siblings starting out on their journey! The kiddos are so excited to start this book and it has been fun reading it to them!
 
With weather as our science focus, we talked about the water cycle and then designed our own rain boots!
 
Our author of the month is Dr. Seuss and we read "Horton Hears a Who" and got to do a Horton craft!
 
I also wanted to share that on Friday April 5, we will be having some guests speakers. I have friends that live in Central Asia and they are stateside visiting. They have two elementary aged kiddos and I thought it would be fun to have the kids come share what life is like where they live!
 
Reminder: Next Friday is Good Friday and there will be NO SCHOOL!

Our Friday was fun and chill!
 
We finished up the last two chapters of "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey", The kids were so excited to see the Celestial City and hear about the end of Christian's journey! When we come back from break, we will start the sequel!
 
Weather is our science focus for the month so we did some fun activities to introduce weather, starting with clouds!
 
Our author of the month is Dr. Seuss and we read "Sneetches"! We also got to play Grinch Operation!

In "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey", Christian and Hopeful continued on their journey. They traveled by the River of the Water of Life and then got caught at (and escaped from) Doubting Castle. 
 
We did and "I Spy" activity to combine math and science and finished up our science by pretending to be doctors and help a patient!
 
To finish out Audrey Wood, we read "Birdsong" and "Heckedy Peg".
 
Also to further our symphony fun, we played "guess the orchestral instrument " and created our own paper symphony!

Our Fridays was so much fun!
 
In "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey", Christian was reunited with his friend Faithful and they ended in the city of Vanity Fair where the townspeople did not like the truth that Christian and Faithful had to share.
 
For science, we talked about different body systems and put together our own body system flip book!
 
We read Audrey Wood's book "Silly Sally" and did a craft and handwriting activity about the book!

Our Fridays always go so fast!
 
In "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey", Christian was sent off and had to battle Apollyon and face other dangers. It was so fun getting to talk about the Armour of God! We then did a watercolor painting either of the story today or what they thought the Celestial City looked liked!
 
We are loving our science topic of the month! We built skeletons and then talked about and labeled different parts of the brain!
 
We got to learn about our author of the month: Audrey Wood. We read "As Quick as a Cricket" and talked about simile! We then created our own list of animals we thought we were like! It was fun to see what animals they chose for each thing!

For Bible, our characteristic of God was Jealousy and we should not worship idols! We were able to talk about how we have been reading about this in the Old Testament! Reading "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey"  is amazing and today Christian walked the Hill of Difficulty and how he was encouraged at Palace Beautiful!
 
Our Friday was a little different today as we got to talk about Lunar New Year, which starts tomorrow! We talked about how for some countries like China, South Korea, and Japan celebrate this holiday and how it's their big holiday for family, presents, and good food. We did some fun math and reading activities and created paper lanterns!
 
We also introduced our science topic of the month, human anatomy, and drew our skeletal system!

For Bible, our characteristic of God was Wise and how He knows all things! We are having so much fun reading through "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey" and today we got to talk about about the part of Christian's journey where he becomes free of his "burden" and how that relates to what Jesus did for us on the cross!
 
We read a fun groundhog math activity and a fun science activity where we predicted what we thought would happen with the groundhog and graphed it!
 
Our author of the month is Kevin Henkes and we read the story "My Owen". Then we did a handwriting activity about things we had when we were little and finished up learning about Mr. Henkes by designing our own Henkes character!
 
Space has been such a fun topic to learn about and to wrap up, we did a marble painting of a universe! We also got to go visit Mrs. Duckworth's planetarium!

For Bible, our characteristic of God was True! We are having so much fun reading through "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey" and getting to talk about all the characters!
 
We read a fun math book and then ended our morning  with a fun reading game! 
 
Our author of the month is Kevin Henkes and we read the story "My Garden". We got to use oil pastels and watercolor to create our own gardens and "grow" whatever we wanted.
 
Space has been such a fun topic to learn about and this week we created our own solar system!
